About Penpont

With its idyllic setting by the banks of the river Usk, Penpont is one of the finest houses in the Brecon Beacons National Park.

A listed building, it was constructed in about 1666 by Daniel Williams, whose descendents still live there today. Around the house lies extensive parkland, woodland, and riverside walks, lawns and walled gardens. In 1992 Gavin and Davina Hogg with their two sons moved in and began a vigorous and long term rescue programme.

Brecon Beacons National Park

For people visting the the national park, there is an enormous diverse landscape from mountains and moorland to the flat pastural land and steeply wooded river valleys. It is spectacularly beautiful, rich in both history and natural history. The river Usk is one of the largest in Wales and brings kingfishers and otters close to the house.
