Iyengar Yoga (UK) was formed in 2003 out of the two previously existing Iyengar Yoga organisations (Light on Yoga Association and BKS Iyengar Yoga Teachers Association) and is a national Association for all Iyengar Yoga practitioners. Amongst other things, it provides information about Iyengar Yoga in the United Kingdom and runs an extensive teacher training programme. Many groups of members have formed local groups or ‘Member Institutes’', which themselves spread information and hold events on a local scale. The Cambridge Iyengar Yoga Institute is one of these groups.
For those with medical conditions who need specific guidance on how to practise therapeutically and safely there's a Remedial class on Weds 10-11.30
For women who are pregnant, our advice is that if you have been regularly practising yoga prior to conception, it is safe to continue.
Otherwise, it is best to wait until after the birth of your baby to take up yoga.
